Available Activities in the Rio Dulce Area with Parlama Tours and Tarpon , Snook Fishing Trips

The Hot Water Falls at the Finca Paraiso- on Lago Isabel is a "must do"
for anyone passing through the Rio Dulce area.  When was the last time you got a chance to stand under a thundering waterfall of magnificently hot water?  This must have been where they got the idea for hot showers!!!!  It's truly a unique experience.  It's about an hours boat ride from Fronteras to the Finca Isobel and then it's about a half hour walk to the Hot Water Falls or a 10 minute in the back of an old wooden cart hauled by a tractor (also an interesting experience reminiscent of the old hay rides!!!) There are all kinds of caves up the river from the waterfalls for those who like hiking and exploring.

Tarpon Fishing on Lago Isobel- In season there is great Tarpon Fishing on Lago Isobel.  The tarpon hang out in schools of a hundred or so so if you get a chance to come upon one when they are all leaping and frollicking it's a real sight to see!!!  Catching one is even more fun as they weigh up to 100 + pounds!!!!

Excursion from Lago Isobel to Rio Oscuro- A day tour will give you the opportunity to spot a myriad of wildlife in it's natural habitat -- Manatees, Cormorrants, White Cranes, Butterfies, water flowers, Mangrove trees and the teeming life that makes them their home.  Way up the Canals it's great for jungle exploring -- make sure you bring your bug spray and your sunscreen and you'll have an enjoyable adventure!!!!

Dunny's Beach excursions-
A lovely day trip to one of the most beautiful beaches in Guatemala -- Playa Dorada -- The Golden Coast of Lago Isobel.  Great for swimming and sunbathing, hanging out in a hammock and relaxing, enjoying the great food at Denny's and a nice cold beer or two!!!!  The beach is a beautiful private paradise with lots of coconut palms and palm roof palapas everywhere to enjoy the shade and the balmy breezes.

Rio Tatin/Hot springs & Caves, Lovingston & Rio Dulce Day Tour -  This is one of the most scenic tours you will enjoy bar non.  The canyon alone is breathtakingly spectacular.  In the 1950's the Tarzan movies were filmed with this as the background.  You'll see the lush green jungle foliage rise out of the river narrows, sheer rock cliffs and a myriad of wild life.  Howler monkeys are often swinging through the vines in the jungle and there are lots of varieties of birds to keep all you birdwatchers excited.  A stop at the hot water springs is always nice for a relaxing bath in the natural thermal waters.  At the end of the Rio Dulce you'll land at the port of Livingston -- a unique Guatemalan town with a large population of the Garifuna tribe which has it's own language, customs and foods.  Try having the local "Tapado" a coconut milk sea food stew that is one of the delicacies of the Garifunas.  You will enjoy storling the streets of the "quaint" village of Livingston.
